| Pregnancy Check Ups |
| I will be honored to look
after your pregnancy from the time of conception till
delivery. You should arrange for a consultation the moment you
missed your period. During the first consult we will take a
detailed history and perform a thorough physical examination.
An ultrasound scan will be done to accurately date your
pregnancy. We will see you at regular intervals till about 16
weeks and then we can commence our package. If required, tests
can be done to ascertain if the fetus has genetic or
structural abnormalities. This will be done if you are in the
high risk group. Our antenatal package is competitively priced
and it will result in substantial savings if you sign early. |

| Delivery |
| Delivery of the baby will be
at one of the hospitals listed below. We offer delivery
packages which are competitive and comparable to government
restructured hospitals. You can have your baby delivered at
one of the following hospitals. |

- Thomson Medical Centre
My nurse will be able to go
through with you the packages which the hospital charges. |

Fertility Treatment |
| Any couple who have had
unprotected intercourse for a year and are still unable to
conceive should arrange to be seen by a specialist doctor.
During the first consult I will go through a detailed history
and physical examination. I will explain to you the causes and
treatment of the possible causes of why you are not pregnant.
I will do a Pap smear, ultrasound scan, blood tests and
arrange for a sperm test for your husband. It is better if
your husband accompanies you on your first visit.
After the results of the tests
are known the next step would be to undergo laparoscopy which
is usually done as a day surgery. This is an excellent tool
which may be considered essential in the investigation of
infertile couples. We can visualize the female reproductive
organs and look for tubal blockage. Fibroids and cysts can be
removed at the same time. After finding the cause we can
commence treatment. This is can be in the form of follicular
tracking and timing of intercourse. We can also perform
intra-uterine insemination. Assisted reproduction e.g. IVF
will have to be referred to the tertiary centers. |

Birth Control |
| You can consult us on the
various forms of birth control or contraception. We will
inform you of the latest developments in the field of birth
control. After the initial consultation and examination, I
will discuss with you the various types of contraception
available and will tailor the correct form based on your
needs. The various forms of contraception include pills,
injectables, condoms, IUCD and implants. Emergency
contraception has to be seen within 24 to 48 hours after
intercourse for it to be effective. |

Well Women Screening |
| We provide screening for the
health conscious female. The basic tests will include Pap
smears, ultrasound scans and blood tests if required.
Mammograms will have to be done at the radiology centers.
Further treatment may be required based on the results. |

| Termination of Pregnancy (Abortion) |
| My clinic provides
outpatient abortion services for patients up to 24 weeks of
pregnancy. Our patients see our clinic as a confidential,
personal alternative to the high cost of hospitalization.
Patients at my clinic vary in age and come from all
lifestyles. We recognize that you have a common bond: an
unwanted pregnancy. You can be assured of strict
confidentiality and the procedure will be performed by me, a
trained doctor. We respect your right to choose and counseling
will be done by a trained and supportive counselor. |
The First Consultation
During the first consult, I will
determine the age of the pregnancy. I will go through with you
the procedure, the risks and complications of the procedure.
If you fall within the group that needs counseling, you will
be counseled by a trained counselor and will have to wait 48 hours
before we can perform the procedure. This is to give you time
to contemplate on your pregnancy. |
Counseling and the Law
In Singapore counseling is
mandatory for Singapore citizens with 2 or less children and
with some form of secondary education. Single women also have
to be counseled. Women below 16 years of age need to be
counseled at the Institute of Health. Work permit holders,
employment pass holders and long term social visit pass
holders do not need counseling. Women with 3 or more children
do not need counseling. |
The Procedure
For pregnancies less than that
14 weeks the procedure will be performed by vacuum aspiration.
The patient will have to fast for at least 4 hours and
sedation will be given as anesthesia. This is usually
sufficient in the majority of patients. The patient will be
monitored after the procedure and should be able to go back 2
to 4 hours after the procedure.
For pregnancies beyond 14
weeks, laminaria will be inserted about 24 hours before the
procedure. When the patient comes back the following day, the
laminaria will be removed and prostaglandins will be given to
extrude the fetus. |
| Patients will undergo post
abortion counseling after the procedure. We will require that
the patients come back a week later to check for any
complications. |

Sterilization |
| Sterilization is performed
by surgical division of the fallopian tubes or by the
application of clips. You may need to know that sterilization
is not 100% as there are patients who get pregnant after
sterilization. This procedure has to be done in the hospital
and is a day surgery procedure. |

Menopause Treatment |
| The menopause is
characterized by the cessation of periods. In addition the
patient may suffer from menopause symptoms and in the long
term osteoporosis. Recently hormone replacement therapy has
come under a bad light due to recent publications. Hormone
therapy may be indicated in some cases but there are other
forms of therapy which will help patients in the menopause.
Presently there is hormone like preparations without the side
effects of hormones. After the consult, we can decide if you
need any medication for the menopause. |

| Fibroids and cysts are the
two commonest gynecological conditions affecting our women
today. Treatment will depend on the size of the tumor,
consistency, site, symptoms and the desire for future child
bearing. Surgery is indicated in the majority of cases. |

the conventional way by using large surgical incisions.

| We can perform male circumcision for the newborn right up to adult age. In infants we use the plastibell (ring) method. For older children and adults we use laser for the procedure. This results in less bleeding and faster recovery. |

| In most cases the condition is caused by loss of pelvic muscle strength. Women who suffer from this condition, need not continue to put up with the embarrassment and the inconvenience the condition presents them.
